NEW OLYMPIC FLAG
Most students will be familiar with the Olympic Flag or are they?. Hide all pictures of the flag/rings in the room and challenge the pupils to answer the following questions
- How many rings are on the flag?
- What are the colours of the rings?
- Can they list the colours in their correct order from left to right.
Tell students that the colours of the rings are are blue, yellow, black, green and red.
Why do they think these colours were chosen? (These colours were chosen as at least one of these colours can be found on the national flag of every country in the world).
Challenge students to design a new Olympic Flag. The new flag must use the same colours but the design can be completely different. What design ideas can they come up with?
Have students present their new flag, along with an explanation of their new design.
