Environmental Challenge: Level
2 - 4
Focus on the Environment Challenge
- I have read and written a short review
on a book about nature and the environment
- I can identify four birds found at
school and at home
- I can identify at least four birds
found in the bush, at the seashore and found by a lake, stream, or river
- I have taken photographs and/or painted
pictures of my favourite places in our local environment. I have made these into
a display and written a short paragraph about each place.
- I have sat quietly for five minutes
in the bush or my favourite quiet place, enjoyed and listed all the sounds I have
heard.
- I have helped cleaning up the playground
and around my home
- I have identified ways that rubbish
can be used again.
- I have found a practical use for
some discarded material
- I have helped my group/class help
formulate a plan to cut down on waste at school and at home
- I have planted a tree and found out
how to care for it as it grows
| EVALUATION AND GOAL SETTING: Be prepared
to discuss these with your teacher. |
- What other environmental topics would you like to
read about? Why?
|
- What have you learned about your local environment
that you didn't know before?
|
- How can we improve our local environment? List your
ideas.
|
- With a friend or in a group, plan and run a promotional
campaign to encourage children at school to enjoy and learn more about your local
environment.
|
- With a friend or in a group, write your own contract
that states how you will care for the school and local environment in an effort to
improve it for people to enjoy, now and in the future.
